About Cornell Cooperative Extension - Tompkins County

The mission of Cooperative Extension is to enable people to improve their lives and communities through partnerships that put experience and research knowledge to work. Extension staff and trained volunteers deliver education programs, conduct applied research, and encourage community collaborations. Our educators connect people with the information they need on topics such as commercial and consumer agriculture; nutrition and health; youth and families; finances; energy efficiency; economic and community development; food systems and sustainable natural resources. Our ability to match university resources with community needs helps us play a vital role in the lives of individuals, families, businesses, and communities throughout Tompkins County. - See more at:

“I loved the other interns I worked with and my boss and the other employees. Everyone was so happy to have us and willing to work with us.”

“I worked for the 4H Urban Outreach program, which runs after-school and summer programs for under-served children in Tompkins County. I assisted with the coordination and administration of the program, as well as working with the kids and making lesson plans for the after school programs. Having worked in Syracuse City Schools it was great to have the opportunity to work for an after-school program and for a different population of kids. I also enjoyed the chance to be on the administrative and planning side of the program. ”
