I loved how I was able to visit all the floors to gain a complete understanding of various types of diseases and sickness as it varied floor to floor

More pay…for the work you do you want at least 20 per hour

Advice

Don’t be afraid to go resource tech instead of having a floor! While you might not experience team bonding, you get to schedule yourself (super flexible) and see so much!

I appreciate the hands-on experience that the Nurse technician role offered me. I get to work and collaborate with health professionals all throughout the hospital to provide my patients the best outcome

What I wish was different

I currently float around to different units so i don’t get to make strong connections with my patients. I would like to be able to visit them multiple days in a row

Mandatory extra hours will be implemented for you to schedule from time to time.

Advice

This career is good for anyone going into a medical-related field. It is especially good for nursing majors. You work very closely with nurses so it really gives you the experience of what it is like day in and day out of being a nurse.

I gained lots of patient contact experience with dementia patients as sexual assault victims as well as more standard hospitalizations.

What I wish was different

I wish there wouldn't have been a nursing and CNA shortage. The more patients you have to take care of the less personal the job is.

Take time to talk to and get to know your patients. Often the most valuable thing you can do for them is to listen.
