Digital Designer Intern

June - August 2020 • Boston, MA

What I liked

I really enjoyed the daily check in's with my manager and maintaining a good relationship throughout with ease of asking questions for things that were new to me while completing my tasks. The intern relations coordinator was super helpful throughout the entire of process of getting us all setup working from home, and keeping us engaged as possible with team building activities with this road block.

What I wish was different

Due to the global pandemic, the entire company was working virtually. I think my relationships to other employees outside my team would have been a lot more accessible with an in person work atmosphere, which I missed out on.

Advice

Try your best to make new relationships with any peer you may find interesting or are attracted to the type of work they produce, will only benefit you later down the road to have ample connects.

Global Communications Intern

June - August 2018 • Boston, MA

What I liked

The people, environment, other interns, the weekly assignments I was receiving and the summer-long intern project that I got to work on with six other interns, ultimately coming in first place out of five teams. I was given a lot of creative freedom and my ideas and opinions were valued. I got to shadow various departments throughout the summer, which gave me a feel of the spaces I liked and didn't like.

What I wish was different

I wish the communication between team members and departments was smoother, because sometimes there was great disconnect between teams and so sometimes it made projects harder to accomplish and meetings harder to schedule and plan for because everyone wasn't aligned. I also wish the company as a whole was connected more because launches would occur and certain people would have no clue what was being launched or when and why.

Advice

Set up meetings with co-workers and ask them questions! As an intern, you don't have all the answers and it's truly a learning experience. Speaking to various employees allows you to gain insight into what they're up to and what you might be interested in pursuing.
