This was a wonderful opportunity to explore my interests of sports media and marketing strategy, as my photographs were used directly for league promotion on various social media channels. I learned extensively about what images work well to convey desired marketing messages, and got a lot of experience working collaboratively with other interns on the team.
What I wish was different
As the intern program grows it would be fantastic to see a Metrocard provided to the media interns to offset the costs of travel to games. Aside from that there is nothing else I would change. It was a very rewarding and enriching process, for which I am thankful I had the time and opportunity to do so.
Advice
I would set an automatic email alert to notify yourself of receiving the automated game cancellation updates in real time.

Social Media/Marketing Intern
January - May 2024 • New York, NY
What I liked
The opportunity to improve my skillset across multiple areas including social media marketing, email marketing, photography/videography and content creation. Licha, my manager was extremely kind to me throughout the internship, and everyone worked well together as a team.
What I wish was different
I wish the order of the standings accurately reflected winning percentages for teams on the website, but as far as the internship itself goes, there's not much that I look back wishing had been different.
Advice
Be willing to communicate with Licha and your co-workers/co-interns. That'll provide the best possible result and help you stress out less.

What I liked
I liked that was I able to be creative on my own and use what I knew to create the best work that I could. Having creative freedom is always great. Billy was always very kind and accommodating. He provided good feedback and asked me many times about what I believe could be done better. He gave me the proper tools and details for all the tasks, and provided timely responses whenever I had questions. I also loved that I had the freedom to work whenever I wanted as my work was mostly remote, so I was able to work everything in just fine with my busy schedule.
What I wish was different
I wish there had been a list of main tasks with subtasks to make it easy to remember and organize everything I had to do. But I know that Billy and CSSA are working on a guide to help with that for future interns, which is great.
Advice
Definitely play around with the different tools in Gipper, the graphic design platform that CSSA uses. While it's not Adobe Photoshop, there's a lot of great things that can be created and they have great templates. Don't be afraid to ask Billy if you have questions, and definitely stay organized. Do your best to get work done before the last minute if you can, and be creative! Also, remember details such as tagging people in social media posts.

Social Media Intern
October - December 2022 • New York City, NY
What I liked
My experience interning at the City School Sports Association has been conducive to my personal and professional growth. As a social media intern, I focused on revamping the social media pages to increase brand identity and consistency. The working culture was empowering because I felt my ideas were heard, especially with my advisors' incredible support and feedback. It has been great to work in an exciting sports environment and create compelling content.
What I wish was different
I wish I would have had more opportunities to collaborate with the other intern in person.
Advice
Make sure to stay organized. As a social media intern, you will take a lot of content and have to make posts frequently, so it is efficient to keep the files organized so you can repurpose them or find them easily.
