“The thing I likes best about my experiences this summer and so far with my internship are the opportunities. Our water quality division at the City of Springfield is fairly young, so there are many things to be explored and problems to be solved. This summer i was able to do two really neat projects. The first project was finding the volume of a lake so that my supervisor(whom is an environmental engineer) could run a mass balnce diagram on the lake. The reasoning being was to solve a growing algae problem. This second project I was in charge of this summer was testing all of our city owned pervious pavement. Icinducted a study analyzing the current infiltration rates of the pervious pavements, and the brought in the best regular maintence practice, performed the practice, and conducted infiltration testing a second time to see the level of impact of those cleaning methods. The experiences i had this summer are invaluable and I encourage anyone and everyone to try and get an internship while they are in school. ”
