I love the environment of working with children and all of my coworkers. I loved that I was getting paid all summer to hang out with children and do what I love. It was the best job and I worked there for two summers because of it.
What I wish was different
I wish that we could have had more breaks throughout the week. It is a full-time job and we only got an hour off a day, and once a week we got a two-hour lunch out. We did get close to 22 hours off between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, but there was still not even time to relax and recoup throughout the week.
Advice
Jobs are not all about money. I did not make that much money over the past two summers, but I continued to work there because that's where my heart was and I wanted to make a difference to those kids. Camp Weed is my happy place and I wish that money wasn't a factor or I would be back every summer.
