Founded in 1924 with help from Bishop Edwin G. Weed, Camp Weed is a resident summer camp that offers an incredible two-for-one by combining an unforgettable camp experience with a unique take on faith. Our campers participate in a variety of outdoor activities (kayaking, rock climbing, outdoor sports, and more) and head inside to hear from our deans and take part in cabin devotions. We know faith is personal, so we divide campers into age-appropriate small groups to discuss the things they’re going through and how God can help.
We believe in community, so we build time into each day for campers to get to know their cabinmates and to bond with their counselors. From cabin time to the Camp Weed Olympics, campers get to experience others from different background and hopefully leave on Saturday with a more open mind.
Our convenient location central to the Diocese of Florida allows us to serve youth from many areas. We’re located just an hour from Tallahassee, Gainesville, and Jacksonville, and we’re a quick drive from the west panhandle, south Georgia, and south Alabama.
Since our founding, we have remained committed to excellent facilities, and we are constantly growing. We currently have nine air-conditioned cabins, a large indoor pavilion, an updated dining hall, and more.
While we’re extremely proud of our location and facilities, we believe our incredible staff are our biggest asset. Our counselors, most of whom were Camp Weed campers themselves, make our camp experience special, and with many interested in pursuing a vocation in ministry, they’re role models we’re proud of.
