Caffe Nero Americas

Barista

May - August 2018 • Boston, MA

What I liked

The people, the perks, and the flexibility.

What I wish was different

I worked at a very busy location, which got overwhelming at times. It was also difficult to find shift coverage when I was scheduled by mistake. The pay also felt fairly low, but with tips it was roughly $2/hour higher.

Advice

Great company, but pick a location that isn't too busy.

Procurement Assistant

June 2018 • Boston, MA

What I liked

Having my efforts produce something tangible for the company. For example I finalized all of the nutritional data and was in charge of producing labels for salad labels. In addition, it was so cool to see how quickly Caffe Nero was expanding. Since I have started, I have been involved in 3 store openings! Not to mention that I have also gained an invaluable mentor.

What I wish was different

Nothing this experience has exceeded any of my exceptions.

Advice

Opportunities come and go. I found this internship purely on luck. Not through my network, not thought CCD, nor through online resources. So, don't beat yourself up for missing events if you need to do something else. There will always be opportunities waiting. However, effort is what follows though and shows, so just because I was lucky, without working hard I wouldn't have gotten where I am today!
