Caffè Nero was established in the USA in 2014, as a wholly owned subsidiary of a European company of the same name. The company has 9 stores currently and will continue to add stores each month in greater Boston.
The founder of Caffè Nero, Gerry Ford and a number of friends/family purchased a group of five Italian style espresso bars based in London in 1997. His aim was to bring a premium, continental-style Cafè to Great Britain. He wanted it to be authentically Italian; serving premium espresso based coffee, fresh high quality food and to become a neighborhood gathering spot. Together with a small team he developed the brand into what has become one of the largest privately held coffee bar chains in the world with over 800 branches across the UK, Poland, Turkey, Cyprus, USA and the UAE.
