Mechanical Engineering Intern

May - August 2021 • Syracuse, NY

What I liked

Everyone is very willing to go out of there way to help you and they want you to ask questions.

What I wish was different

I wish I had a consistent workload, but with Covid they were still trying to catch back up to where they were prior.

Advice

Do not be afraid to ask questions and ask for more or less work. People are going to be understanding if you need help or have too much on your plate.

Civil Engineering Intern - Aviation

January 2020 • San Diego, CA

What I liked

C&S has provided an overwhelmingly positive work environment to gain experience in the infrastructure consulting industry. The managers and engineers in the aviation group have taught me so much about the nuances of project design. I've been handed a lot of responsibility as I've continued with my internship, which has specifically helped me progress in my engineering capabilities.

What I wish was different

Advice

Learn to be comfortable with asking a lot of questions and performing tasks that exceed your experience level. Every day provides a new challenge, and with that a new learning opportunity. Not everyone is going to be aware of your skillset or capabilities when they hand you work. If you get stuck on a task and can't figure out what to do next, don't worry about annoying the engineers/managers, ask as many questions as you need to get the job done.
