I wish I could have worked there longer since Adventure Island is only in Tampa.

I would advise people that this job requires attention to detail because you have to be ready at every moment to save guests from drowning

What I liked

I liked the employees and experience of working with the guests at Busch gardens. Additionally the benefits and park admission perks were nice.

What I wish was different

I wish that there were more hours offered and I wish the supervisors were more understanding and considerate towards their employees because the employees were constantly yelled at for asking questions.

Advice

I would recommend this as a temporary job while searching for another job. This job did not pay well because there were very few shifts and hours offered. If you are going to work here, work during a season that is eventful, such as Halloween or Christmas.

I liked seeing the different guests visiting the park coming from all different kinds of countries and backgrounds.

I wish Florida did not get so hot because there were days where the sun drained me physically and mentally.

Advice

One piece of advise I would give is to definitely experience working at an amusement park. There is so much to see while working there and overall a great experience.

What I liked

The whole experience was amazing. I went through a program called the Tampa Project, which is connected to a Christian organization called Campus Outreach. The main focus of the project were Christian oriented classes that were centered around evangelism, and the jobs that we had through Busch Gardens went to help pay for rent and living expenses. I really enjoyed meeting all of the great people that I encountered while there, including other students from different colleges throughout the country, and the many people that I met that live in Tampa. Even now, I still maintain contact with some of the people that I had met.

Since the park was really small everyone that works there knows who you are. The supervisors were really nice and friendly always having an eye on you whenever you needed help.

They way they send the notifications about the days you need to work.

If you consider yourself to be friendly the merchandise department is your place to be!

What I liked

I like how flexible they are with my schedule within reason. Summer hours are the busiest so time off is harder to have but if you had something planned months in advanced they will accommodate it as long as it isn't unreasonable. There also are a lot of benefits like getting into the park for free and getting discounted tickets.

What I wish was different

I wish breaks were a little longer or more evenly spaced. It's hard in my area to leave without someone to cover you since I am in a very high paced portion of the park.

Advice

Some areas in the park take a lot out of you mentally so if you take offense easily or can't take people insulting you without retorting I wouldn't recommend this job for you. It can be a big strain on your psyche if you're new to customer service.
