Campus Ambassador

What I liked

Buddi is incredible! I am so appreciative to be apart of this company. I am a Campus Ambassador and I am also a blog writer. I like how entirely organized the company is. We get a handful of not only marketing experiences but also educational recourses! I also just feel it is extremely incredible to have such a large team of individuals working towards an amazing goal.. MENTAL HEALTH!

What I wish was different

I just wish I was able to utilize the app! However, it will be ready in less than a month (YAY!)

Advice

Be uniquely yourself, and have a passion for the mental health field. When you are creating media for this company or writing as I do for their recourses, you want to be sure the passion you have is felt, generating better quality.

What I liked

Buddi provides their interns with a supportive work environment that wants to see you succeed both within their company and at university. They provide a flexible work schedule, while also giving students plenty of opportunities to gain more experience in the mental health field and in marketing. With weekly seminars on these topics and training on being an active listener, Buddi makes sure that their interns get an interactive learning experience, while also making strong connections with each other. Buddi truly cares for the promotion of better mental health not only for their users, but also for their staff.

What I wish was different

I wish that we could start working on the app sooner. I'm excited to use the skills I have gained and put them to use to help our users and the community.

Advice

I encourage students of all majors, especially psychology and business majors, to apply for Buddi; Additionally, communication is important. As long as you share your needs, Buddi's directors and co-directors will do whatever they can to help their interns succeed.

What I liked

Fiona was knowledgeable and created a judgement free environment. The slides and information she's shared have been helpful and she's always prepared. I feel like I can trust her if I needed help.

What I wish was different

Although the weekly meetings have been helpful, without the app being launched it's a bit redundant and easy to forget what our actual goals are each week.

Advice

Advice I would give is get to know/build relationships with the other associates. With all of us being Psychology majors, you could make life long friends or connections through this program.

What I liked

Buddi can work with your schedule rather well. Another fantastic community on Buddi is full of college students with interests similar to yours. There are other team-building activities in addition to solitary work. An additional benefit is that you learn more about various mental health issues since the administration discusses an illness at every meeting to ensure that everyone is aware of it and because we conduct psychology research on subjects we are interested in. This has been the best job I've ever had, hands down!

What I wish was different

To be honest, I wouldn't make any changes. The business is highly sensitive to your wants and cognizant of the circumstances you might be going through. They only ask that you get in touch with them, which is great since it makes you feel taken care of.

Advice

I would encourage everyone to apply! Even with a busy schedule, this has been an amazing experience that is extremely manageable. You will learn about subjects you are interested in and form a ton of new relationships. I advise candidates to be authentic in the interview. The company's only goal is to get to know each employee, and they can relate to your experiences. This place is more like a family than a workplace, and everyone here is passionate about mental health.

Buddi For Psych Intern

What I liked

I have had the privilege of interning with Buddi as a psychology student, and there are several aspects of this experience that I have greatly appreciated. First and foremost, I have been fortunate to work with a team of incredibly friendly and easygoing staff members at Buddi. The welcoming and supportive atmosphere within the organization has made my internship enjoyable and conducive to personal and professional growth. One particular highlight of my internship at Buddi has been the exceptional communication provided by the team. This open and transparent communication has allowed me to gain valuable insights into the field of psychology and mental health. I have felt encouraged to ask questions, seek guidance, and actively participate in discussions. This has been instrumental in deepening my understanding of the subject matter and the real-world applications of psychological principles. Moreover, the opportunity for research at Buddi is an ongoing valuable learning experience. Being able to work on individual research projects allows us to expand our knowledge and practical skills. The chance to engage in meaningful research has been a highlight of my time here.

What I wish was different

While my experience at Buddi has been highly positive, there are a few aspects I wish had been different. Given the remote nature of the internship, I have missed the in-person interaction and collaboration that often comes with an office environment. Face-to-face interactions and the ability to collaborate more closely with staff would have made the experience even more interesting and enriching. Additionally, it would have been beneficial if the Buddi app had been launched earlier. This would have provided more time to work with and help individuals who reach out through the app, allowing for a more hands-on and impactful experience. Nevertheless, I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this exciting project.

Advice

One piece of advice I would like to share about this internship experience is the importance of authenticity and kindness in the mental health field. Building genuine connections and being true to oneself can go a long way in reaching personal and professional goals. This experience has reinforced my belief that connecting with individuals in a compassionate and empathetic manner can be transformative in the mental health arena. By staying true to these principles and working hard, one can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others and find personal fulfillment in the field of psychology.

What I liked

Buddi is an extremely supportive environment. Every director, co-director and head of operations at Buddi has been open and kind to make sure there is space for everyone to speak and reach out to them in regards to personal matters as well as professional ones.

What I wish was different

It could be a bit more organized. It took some time for an orientation meeting for first time members.

Don't be afraid to ask questions. Every lesson is lead by the directors and they're all looking to help out if there is anything confusing or needs some clarity.

I like the laid-back and open culture of the company. It's easy to reach out and communicate. Everyone is very passionate about our app's mission to help those seeking assistance. The structure of our meetings is nice, and everyone is very receptive to input.

What I wish was different

I wish there was a bit more clarity with the launching and build of the app. Without the app functioning, we can't start supporting those who want to chat.

I think the app will be a great resource for students seeking a real helpful resource to support their mental health.

What I wish was different

The only thing I wish was different was the app release date! It can't come fast enough and I am very excited!

What I liked

Besides the mission and goal that Buddi works toward, there are many things that I like about working here. The staff and environment are very welcoming and encouraging. Everything is very flexible and never exceedingly demanding or overwhelming. The training that the staff goes through is in-depth and helpful.

What I wish was different

There is not much that I would want to change about Buddi. The one thing that I wish would be different is that the app be released soon.

Advice

Although Buddi is very flexible and as of right now only requires the weekly meetings, I would advise doing research outside of the trainings in order to reinforce what we discuss in the meetings.

What I liked

This line of work is extremely flexible, holding about an hour of video call weekly, it is straightforward to keep up with the workload and a very engaging crowd. Each week, as BFPs (Buddi For Psych), we delve into various topics that revolve around mental health and how to interact with it. For me, I found this to be vital especially when working with one another as this education bridges the gap of any new knowledge about mental health for any workers. As of recently with Buddi For Psych, volunteers have been researching mental health topics of their choosing with another partner. This creates a closer bond within the community along with this emphasis on education on mental health.

What I wish was different

I hope to see much more hands-on experience throughout this volunteer work. Currently, all the Buddi For Psych workers have been delving into a case study research topic based on a mental health topic of their choosing which very much appealed to me. However, I am most definitely looking forward to interacting with patients of the Buddi app once its release happens. Along with this, I hope to see more resources for any in-person opportunities and assignments so that we can apply this knowledge and work in the future.

Advice

I advise that when working within this community to not be afraid to share any opinions as a lot of the supervisors truly value your input. There is not much difficulty with working with your peers at all as the environment has never felt tense or uncomfortable throughout the video calls. However, I hope to learn more about my fellow BFPs in the future as this cultivates a much more open environment.

What I liked

I liked how friendly and supportive the staff is, as well as how flexible they are around the schedule of a working student. Meetings are fun and informative and working with my peers has been a pleasure. The app itself is a great product that is sure to benefit many people.

What I wish was different

I wish the app would have launched sooner, so I could have some more hands on experience with it, however I do appreciate the level of time and effort being placed into it so users can have a smooth and polished experience .

Advice

If you're looking to gain valuable experience in the field of counseling and psychology, Buddi is an excellent place to volunteer.

What I liked

I love how flexible Buddi is! It is a great opportunity to make a difference in the world and get insight into the field of Psychology, while also being able to manage my time with school and other after-school activities. I enjoy meeting once a week with the entire group because there are engaging conversations going on and it feels like a big family. Everyone is extremely kind and the directors are always willing to help in any way. Not only is it a safe space for individuals who will be on the app, but it is also a safe space for everyone working for Buddi! I love knowing that I have the ability to make a difference in people's lives and be surrounded by a group of people who are also as passionate about that as me.

What I wish was different

Nothing, I am excited about the launch of the app!

Advice

Buddi is a great step into the field of Psychology. It will definitely expose you to what it is like to work in the field and the kinds of situations you may run into. A piece of advice would be to stay on top of the work and communicate if needed with the directors, as they are extremely understanding.

What I liked

What I like about Buddi is how flexible it is and how it allows me to work around my schedule at home with school and everything else going on. It's nice that we have weekly meetings to check in and discuss important topics to make sure everybody is on the right track, and I really enjoy working with such a welcoming and supportive team.

What I wish was different

The only thing I wish was different is for our app to be out! I know we are all super excited to start working with it and helping others, and I look forward to seeing what the final product looks like. I know the Buddi team has worked really hard to make this app happen, and it'll be such a relief for everyone once it launches.

Advice

One piece of advice I would give to others is simply to make sure you carve out time to do the assignments prior to our weekly meetings. This will help you to stay on track and not fall behind everyone. Time management is incredibly important when doing something like this, especially when you have other obligations such as school and work outside of it.
