About Billiken Teacher Corps

The Billiken Teacher Corps (BTC) of Saint Louis University is a unique service-learning opportunity for faith-driven college graduates to have a transformative impact in under-resourced Catholic schools in St. Louis, MO and Springfield, IL.

BTC Fellows live the Jesuit Mission of being men and women for and with others. For two years, the fellows live in an intentional faith community while teaching full time and earning their Master of Arts in Teaching degree with full tuition-remission. The BTC has served the St. Louis area since 2015.

NEW THIS YEAR: The BTC is thrilled to be partnering with St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Springfield, IL to launch its first cohort outside of St. Louis. We are seeking qualified individuals who want to blaze this trail and make a difference in the lives of early childhood and elementary school students. St. Pat’s serves students from all races, creeds, and religions with small class sizes in pre-school through fourth grade. The school offers more than a century of quality educational experiences and spiritual formation to all its students.

“I took a semester long class to discuss global education and service in Belize. We went through the political structure and the economic structure of the country which was immensely helpful in understanding the poverty level. The actual experience itself I loved. We worked at St. Martin de Porres in the classrooms helping to work with students who were behind and reorganizing the school library. ”
