Big Leap

Digital Marketing Intern

July 2019 • Lehi, UT

What I liked

I really loved how Big Leap treated me like an employee and not so much like an intern. That included many of their benefits, reaching out to me acknowledging personal accomplishments (e.g. birthday, finals week, personal wins) that normally go unnoticed. Big Leap is like being a part of a family.

What I wish was different

I think the onboarding process when going from intern to full-time could be a little more smooth or communicate the option if available. It's been confusing to know whether or not they want to or can hire.

Advice

I have loved working at Big Leap. For a small company, they are able to help you feel a sense of belonging, meaning, autonomy and that you have room to continually learn and grow. However, I would advise either being proactive in their communication process (in regards from company to employee).

What I liked

I started working for Big Leap the summer I graduated from college almost two years ago and am still impressed by how much they value improve. Big Leap has teams dedicated to improving internal processes so training can always be improved. They are constantly coming up with refined processes for client communication, all SEO projects, and internal interaction. They use a learning management system so you can improve your personal development and career advancement (putting it bluntly, they provide a clear path to earn raises). Big Leap puts a lot of effort into making sure their employees are happy. With a fully-stocked breakroom, flexible PTO, health care, monthly company meetings/activities, gym membership reimbursement, rewards for meeting goals/work anniversaries/birthdays, etc. I could go on all day about culture and perks. I did lots of research my senior year of college and Big Leap came out on top as the best company for me to work for. I am always happy to go to work because I work for a company that really cares about satisfying client and employee needs. I enjoy going to work and enjoy the people I work with and have always felt valued.

What I wish was different

I started working at Big Leap before the learning management system was around. It would've been so helpful for me, starting out, to have the LMS to teach me Big Leap's processes. Now that it is available, I reference it constantly and use it to complete my projects.

Advice

It will really set you ahead if you've done some SEO research before interviewing or if you've had experience in SEO already, make sure you talk about it in the interview. Whoever is interviewing you will be trying to see your true personality, so be yourself and have fun with it!

What I liked

Big Leap invested in me as a person. Not only did managers and directors make sure I was learning valuable hard skills, they constantly made sure that I was doing well personally. This is one of the few jobs where I've felt like my managers genuinely cared about me and went out of their way to incorporate my ideas into real projects and clients.

Advice

I've recommended several friends to Big Leap and would be happy to talk to anyone about the opportunities to work at Big Leap.

What I liked

Working at Big Leap has been phenomenal. They’re a great company with an amazing culture. You learn a lot very fast if you take the initiative to learn. The culture is amazing. They really value their employees and the team structure. Teams go out to lunch and to team activities. The company meets as a whole on a monthly basis to give out awards for values, talk about retention, and marketing efforts. Then we enjoy a catered lunch and a fun activity. Overall, the entire work environment is really collaborative, encouraging, and positive.

Advice

Take the initiative to learn all that you can. You have the opportunity to really stand out as a reliable person, so do your best work and don't be afraid to ask questions. Everyone is so happy to help you with anything you need.
