Austin Independent School District

Special Education Teacher Assitant

September 2007 - May 2010 • Austin, TX

What I liked

I grow as a professional to be passionate about your job when supporting students and teacher. I liked to see students' regardless of their need to feel inclusiveness and grow from others culturally and socially. For me, to see the MAGIC unfold as you assess the behavioral analysis of people helped me come to terms with the philosophy and psychology to define WHAT happen and WHY. Behaviorist B.F. Skinner coined the term 'operant conditioning' emphasizing negative and positive reinforcement, the effects of punishment, behavior modification, and modeling so we can take a deeper look of understand HOW the individual or groups behavior influence society. I liked to see a diverse change in metamorphosis at Austin Independent School District and learn some Texas history and culture during the process.

What I wish was different

I wish my departure would have been different after 8+ years of professionalism to know that my service was appreciated. I could feel a dynamic shift as I was embarking of my master's degree and felt the need to resign so I could focus on the best avenue for my family.
