Aberdeen Ironbirds

Creative services intern

May 2018 - September 2019 • Aberdeen, MD

What I liked

It was an amazing experience. Very hands on and constantly learning new things. Be ready to work long hours but the crew was fun and very nice.

What I wish was different

Honestly the only thing was that it’s a sport dictated by weather. If it rains the next day is very long but again the crew made it fun.

Advice

Learn all you can from your boss and peers even if it’s how not to set a camera up, it’s the best way to grow in your career.

Sport Design intern

May - August 2019 • Aberdeen, MD

What I liked

I loved that I could be creative with fun things like game programs and flyers. As well as the people I worked with since they were so kind and willing to help. It was really cool to see my work up on the big screen for games as well.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have been more confident with myself and my work, it makes a difference. Plus I wish I would have networked more within the company.

Advice

It is a very fast paced environment, you will have to stay organized and self motivated to meet deadlines well. Also if you have any motion experience show that off in your portfolio, it will help you get hired because they could use more help in that direction for the big screen.

Ticket Operations Intern

June - August 2019 • Aberdeen, MD

What I liked

I enjoyed the opportunities management gave me to experience different aspects of the business. From ticketing, to sales and promotions, and to stadium operations, they provided me as many opportunities as they could for me to learn as much as possible about operating a successful sports franchise.

What I wish was different

Nothing. It was a phenomenal experience.

Advice

Work as hard as possible and take every opportunity to help whenever, wherever, and whoever you can. People notice when you go above and beyond what's asked of you.
