SPRING: Medical Exposure Internship in Israel

This internship is for a pre-med student, medical school student, nursing student, or a recent graduate who wants to...

  • Gain valuable experience serving alongside the medical staff at the Nazareth Hospital EMMS in Israel.
  • Experience how serving a community medically can also be a ministry and outreach.
  • Experience community life with staff and volunteers.

The hospital is affiliated with Bar-Ilan University and is committed to the development of medical education and research. Each year the hospital has students of medicine, nursing and other medical fields from universities in Israel and around the world. You would be co-hosted by this Hospital and our local OM team.

Responsibilities and Duties
Medical experience can be gained in a variety of hospital departments. The intern will support and observe the local medical staff in their duties. Each department has variations on these basic duties. We can offer placements in the NICU, Surgical ward, ER, Maternity nursery and Dialysis, as well as other places as needed.

Proposed Weekly Schedule:
It’s usually based on a 7 hour day, 5 days per week schedule. However, this can be adapted for specific needs. Usual days off are Saturday and Sunday, or Sunday and Monday.

Qualifications and Skills
The ability to be flexible, work independently at times, and cope with a cross-cultural multi-language environment is essential. Experience of hospital work or nursing is desirable. Any knowledge of Arabic and/or Hebrew would also be desirable, but not essential. We ask that all interns are committed Christians with a sensitivity to the local environment and to hospital working. Our ministry in the hospital revolves around being there for the patients and their families and responding to their needs/questions. We are under the Ministry of Health regulations including the rights of the patient.
