About the Internship
The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) is seeking motivated undergraduate or graduate students for our Public Service Aide – Associate to Professionals Internship for 2026. This paid internship provides hands-on experience supporting professional staff across SFPUC divisions while contributing to meaningful public service work that impacts more than 2.7 million Bay Area residents.

Role Description
General Description
Under minimal supervision, the Public Service Aide – Associate to Professionals performs responsible and complex work in support of professional-level staff. Duties may include research, data analysis, administrative support, and assistance with program implementation.
SFPUC Role-Specific Assignment
People Science Team – Human Resource Services (HRS)
This internship supports the People Science team within Human Resource Services and provides exposure to behavioral science–informed HR practices. The intern will assist with research, data analysis, and project coordination across areas such as:
Competency modeling
Employee engagement and survey development
Talent management initiatives
Data organization, reporting, and basic visualizations
Development of communications and organization-wide resources
This role is ideal for students who are detail-oriented, curious, eager to learn, and comfortable working independently and collaboratively.

1657 Rollins Road, San Francisco, CA
750 Phelps Street, San Francisco, CA
3801 Third Street, Suite 600, San Francisco, CA
505 Paloma Way, Sunol, CA
Moccasin, CA (Hetch Hetchy Water & Power Division – approximately 140 miles east of SF)
Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirement:
Completion of at least two years of college (60 semester units or 90 quarter units) from an accredited college or university

Desirable Qualifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good public relations and interpersonal skills
Interest in human resources, organizational psychology, data analysis, or public service
