Advice

I would suggest getting to know the location layout and how dar things are from you because I was asked many questions relating to this and answered them based on what I knew.

Pachyderm Keeper Intern

May - August 2018 • Miami, FL

What I liked

I loved working outdoors every day directly beside elephants, rhinos, okapis, zebras, giraffes and numerous other mammal species. I was in charge of enrichment design which was very challenging but fun and I had an amazing team of keepers to teach me everything I wanted to know about zookeeping.

What I wish was different

I would have liked the internship to have been paid.

Advice

While it was a very fun job it was also very messy, smelly, hot and humid that was often difficult to deal with so anyone wanting to pursue this career should know what they're getting into and be prepared.
