Business Analyst Intern

What I liked

I like the flexibility I have in working on projects, the ability to work remotely, and the really friendly, supportive work environment. My coworkers are kind but also provide me with lots of feedback, so I have been able to grow in many different areas of expertise throughout this internship. In addition, since business analysts act as a liason between several teams in defining business requirements, I was able to learn more about business operations as a whole and get experience in areas outside of information systems, which is really unique about this position.

What I wish was different

I wish that I could have had more support on my team. As the only business analyst on the team for a while, I was sometimes overloaded with work to do when we were getting close to the end of a phase. However, my boss and coworkers were really helpful in taking on a few of my tasks and providing me with all the resources I needed to get work done within the timeframe necessary.

Advice

I would suggest figuring out a project management system that works for you to keep track of everything and make sure to complete weekly tasks at least a day before your calls. It is easy to get backlogged or realize you need help with a certain task that affects the rest of your tasks, so if you complete your work early, you can get assistance quicker.
