This job helped me gain experience in the field of working with kids as well as behavior management. I loved being outdoors all summer, while also being able to work in a field similar to what I'm getting my degree in.
What I wish was different
I was working with a new camp director who wasn't as familiar with how our camp worked and all the things that needed to be prepared before camp. The first couple of weeks had a lot of last minute preparation which was difficult but also helped me work under pressure.
Advice
I would highly recommend anyone that wants to work with kids to experience working a summer camp. It's a fun and interactive way to gain experience in areas such as behavior management, planning and scheduling activities as well as working alongside others and parents.
