What I liked

Xandr employees really loved interacting with and giving advice to interns. Everyone was very approachable and friendly, which says a lot especially because the internship ended up being virtual. I was able to work on a project from start to finish that had tangible impact on the company, which is not always the case in other internship programs. Xandr also offered intern learning sessions throughout the summer to expose us to various topics that we were interested in and expand our takeaways from the summer.

What I wish was different

I wish I got to actually go into the New York City office in person because everyone I talked to had great things to say about the office culture. I also think it would have been easier to meet with more employees and develop stronger relationships.

Advice

Through any internship experience, whether virtual or in person, try to meet with as many employees as possible even if they are not within your direct team. I learned a lot from speaking to employees both inside and outside of my team, and I plan on staying in touch with at least 5 of them going forward. Internships are about growing as a professional and an individual, so make sure to go in with an open mind and learn as much as you can.

What I liked

It's an incredible company; their industry is fast paced and every day was different. My team gave me a big project that was to presented to their Executive team so it was a great learning experience.

What I wish was different

Wish they had a formal return offer structure (they are implementing this in the following year apparently)

Advice

It's what you make of it -- reach out to other teammates, take advantage of the flat organizational structure, invite people to coffee, etc.

This internship made me feel valued by providing resources for growth in addition to pay, so I would advise others to search for opportunities which make them feel valued in such a way.
