Health and Benefits Consulting Intern

June - August 2022 • Boston, MA

What I liked

I liked the people at the company and I liked the way the internship was set up: half the time I was in the office, half I was able to do from home and it was a mix of client projects as well as learning and development/networking.

What I wish was different

I wish that there were more interns in the office or the interns from the area were able to get together at some point throughout the summer. I also wish I was involved in more client work.

Put yourself out there and be open to all experiences. Ask a lot of questions and be willing to help on a lot of projects.

Integrated and Global Solutions Intern

May - August 2022 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Everyone I met during my internship was very friendly and helpful. I learned the many processes of M&A and what it takes to be successful. WTW has locations everywhere and I had the opportunity to network with people from many different states and countries. My role required multi-tasking but it allowed me to learn very quickly and use problem-solving. There are many opportunities to learn and grow with WTW.

What I wish was different

I would have liked to learn a little more about the other responsibilities and tasks of other positions in the company, just to get an all-around glimpse into what other roles do.

Advice

Do not be afraid to ask questions. People at WTW are always willing to help and listen to any questions and concerns you have. The company's culture is great!

Health and Benefits Consultant

June - August 2021 • Southfield, MI

What I liked

The people at Willis Towers Watson were wonderful. They always were willing to hop on a teams meeting to walk through a project or answer questions. My manager and the intern coordinators were very intentional about the work they gave and it was awesome getting the opportunity to contribute to a few client teams as an intern. It is evident Willis Towers Watson cares about the development and wellbeing of their employees and that feeds all the way down to their intern pool.

What I wish was different

My experience was virtual so it would have been nice to get into the office a few times.

Advice

Be proactive. Your manager isn’t going to micro-manage your schedule, so it is your responsibility to use your time wisely and ask for extra work if you have the capacity. In addition, ask questions even if it’s about something you are curious about and doesn’t affect the end product of your work. Look to gain an understanding in everything you are doing.

Retirement Actuarial Intern

June - August 2020 • Parsippany, NJ

What I liked

They really value their employees and they invest in their workforce. I really enjoyed my time interning at Willis Towers Watson. The people I worked were such a pleasure. Everyone made time to help me and work with me. I am really appreciative of all the time they spent in my learning and development.

What I wish was different

Like most people, it would have been great if it was in person but I got to connect with colleagues from all over the company because of the remote work.

Advice

Work really hard and make sure you pay attention to all the trainings. The actuarial field is not for those faint of heart. It has many rewards but it can definitely be challenging at times.

Life Actuarial Intern

May - August 2020 • Philadelphia, PA

What I liked

I really enjoyed the people that I worked with as well as the knowledge I had gained from working there. Everyone was eager to help me and answer all of my questions. They were able to ship me a computer and necessary materials in order to have the best experience.

What I wish was different

Because of COVID-19, my internship was entirely virtual. I felt I still gained just as much knowledge, if not more. I wish I was able to go into the office and have that typical internship experience. I had such an immersive experience throughout the summer.

Advice

One piece of advice I would give it to be open-minded, and learn as much information as you can.

Analyst Intern

June - August 2019 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

The the experience was specifically tailored for me due to the fact that I was the only intern located in my office. I feel like the projects that were assigned to me were very valuable in helping me to improve my critical thinking skills and seeking the answer. I loved the fact that they incorporated two projects with other interns participating in the program even through we were from other offices. I also had the opportunity to learn from other teams as well.

What I wish was different

Being on the west coast with a cohort who was primary located on the east coast was very difficult due to time differences. I wish a little more consideration was given to the few of us located on the west coast when it came to scheduling conflicts.

Advice

Make sure you are giving your best foot forward and being conscious of your timelessness at all times.

Analyst (Management Consulting)

May - August 2019 • Arlington County, VA

What I liked

The team was great, so friendly. I worked on the Health and Benefits team and they worked to integrate me. I had real responsibility and worked as an analyst on multiple client teams. I got to visit 2 client sites.

Advice

Enter excited to learn. There will be more than enough to keep you busy.

Actuarial Analyst Intern

June - August 2019 • Memphis, TN

What I liked

The company sent all of the interns to Dallas, TX to meet with some of the company's leadership and other interns from around the country. I learned a lot about everything Willis Towers Watson does, and I met a lot of great people from different backgrounds.

What I wish was different

The last week of the internship a few of the interns didn't have enough work to do. I wish they had given us more work to do on our own.

Advice

This job requires good problem-solving skills. You have to be able to dig through documents and find answers yourself. It's okay to ask questions, but they should be good questions.

Assistant accountant

June - July 2018 • Brazzaville, Brazzaville

What I liked

I had an amazing chance to work with great co-workers in the accounting department. I also had a nice work environment. Not only the work environment was great but also it was in a productive atmosphere. For instance, I always received compliments by my superiors when I complete my tasks. I also liked the fact that the CEO has a monthly meeting with all employees to discuss things that are going well and things that need to be improved. For example, at my last meeting we discussed potential changes in the services we were offering.

What I wish was different

Honestly, I had been fully satisfied with the experience I received at Willis Tower Watson.

Advice
