World Relief Memphis

Intern

August - December 2018 • Memphis, TN

What I liked

Interning with World Relief was a different experience every day! It was wonderful to be able to assist refugees and/or immigrants that have resettled in Memphis. It wasn't a strict, hardcore job. It allowed you to be immersed in the resettlement experience by helping refugees through transportation, employment search, or just simply visiting to talk.

What I wish was different

I did have to use my personal car quite often, but they did offer gas reimbursement. However, whenever a company van was available, they did allow the interns to use them.

Advice

If you're concerned about the work environment or what have you, I would recommend just reaching out and asking questions. They have a wonderful team behind them, and each person is more than willing to have a conversation if you have questions!

What I liked

I had autonomy, learned about so many aspects of the workings of a business, worked on projects of my own, and was working toward a good end.

Advice

Be proactive, and take advantage of the opportunities you’re given to show off your skills, and hone them as well.
