Mission:
Our mission is two-fold: to protect our globally important habitat by maintaining its ecological integrity, and to educate our community in understanding and appreciating the value of nature.
Woodland Dunes Nature Center and Preserve is over 1,500-acres of preserved land adjacent to the shore of Lake Michigan. We are located on the “bump out” south of the Door county peninsula, between Two Rivers and Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
Step beyond the cities, only a few blocks away, and enter an almost timeless environment while hiking our nature trails. Experience our mixed habitats: dune and swale forest, cattail marsh, shrub swamp and native grasslands. Explore the Nature Center, butterfly garden, Little Wings play area and the easily accessible boardwalks to learn about this remarkable wild space.
Discover how our preserve relates to the big picture of environmental awareness, conservation, education and the economy. Participate in our ever-changing and relevant education programs and special events. Become a naturalist in your own unique way.
