GRC Intern

June - August 2023 • Durham, NH

What I liked

I am grateful for the invaluable experience I gained at the intersection of policy, law, IT, and compliance. This opportunity provided me with a well-rounded understanding of these fields and their interconnections. Working alongside knowledgeable and experienced professionals in each of these areas was worth it, as it equipped me with the necessary skills to effectively handle complex issues that may arise in these fields.

What I wish was different

I have come to realize that some of my previous projects could have been better defined.

Metrology Intern

June - August 2022 • Durham, NC

What I liked

Interns were very involved in their projects and learned a lot about what it was like to actually work at the company. The teams were very supportive of their interns and offered great guidance.

What I wish was different

It seemed a bit too busy at times, interns were often competing with other engineers and teams to get tool time and work on their projects.

Advice

Everyone is super willing to help you so don't feel bad about reaching out for help.

Automation & Controls Intern

June - August 2021 • Raleigh, NC

What I liked

I liked the exposure to a new industry and the ability to see my work directly contribute to a process change on the manufacturing floor!

What I wish was different

I wish the internship had been fully in-person. I was able to be on-site for one week out of my internship, while the rest of the summer was conducted remotely. The time I spent on-site was extremely beneficial to conceptualizing the work that I was doing and its impact, and I can only imagine how being there for the whole summer would have positively impacted my experience.

Advice

To never be afraid to reach out for help, but also don't hesitate to be resourceful. Learning new skills is a tough process, but it is important to put a concentrated effort in.

Engineering Intern

May - August 2020 • Albany, NY

What I liked

I loved the experience I got and how much my work impacted the company. It was not just an internship doing busy work the whole summer. I had projects to work on constantly, I learned a lot, and met a lot of great people.

What I wish was different

I wish I had a little bit more experience working with a team. Most of my work was independent, which is fine, but I wish I could have been on some sort of team trying to accomplish something together.

Advice

A piece of advice I would give is to expect to learn a lot and be ready to do your own independent research to keep up and offer as much knowledge and as many ideas as possible.
