Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts

Ticket Services Intern

May - August 2022 • Vienna, VA

What I liked

The intern group was able to attend weekly sessions to learn about each department at Wolf Trap and departmental responsibilities. Not only did I get to learn about the Box Office as part of my internship, but I also got to learn about Government Affairs, Human Resources, Information Technology, and more.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been able to take on more of my own projects during my internship, but this was minor as I always had work to do.

Advice

Ask questions! Everyone who works at Wolf Trap is so kind and willing to help. Use the experience to learn as much as you can.

This internship allowed me to focus in on other aspects I like within the arts that I could pursue as a career. It also had me thinking about graduate school.

Special Events

September - December 2019 • Vienna, VA

What I liked

It was a perfect balance between office and hands-on work. Wolf Trap also offers a lot of opportunities for interns like: (Mentor program, seminars of different departments, interview and resume support..etc)

What I wish was different

Because I was not a full-time intern it was sometimes hard to find out what has been completed in the meantime and what not.

Advice

Be more confident and don't hesitate to ask questions.

Graphic Design Intern

May - August 2019 • Vienna, VA

What I liked

Great opportunity to learn from a team of experienced designers. Also a chance to work in an office space with a large team of people. You get the chance to create a few projects from start to finish.

What I wish was different

Overall, my experience was very memorable and positive. I can't think of anything I would have wanted to be different.

Advice

Make sure to know Wolf Trap's history and design style since you'll be working as an in-house designer—it helps to know what kind of projects you'll be designing. Medium–high Indesign skills are recommended, but the creative team will definitely help you if you need additional training. Skills in Photoshop and Illustrator are a plus.
