What I liked

This job was great. Overall I got to pick my hours and work up to full time. I was doing work that is related to my field of interest, and taught me skills I can apply to a career or research.

What I wish was different

I wish the necessary tools could have been taken outside of the university. An example would be, I needed programs that were heftier such that I needed a robust computer system and could not just use my laptop.

Advice

This job relied on my personal motivation. I had to take initiative and apply myself as there was not so much pressure to complete tasks in a timely manner.

What I liked

I liked the flexubility of the hours on this job because it allowed me to work another job at the same time. I also enjoyed all of the outings I had the chance to cover on social media as a part of my job, it was so much fun!

I wish that there was more funds available to do more interactive events with our followers.

Working with people with different perspectives than you is a good thing. Diversity fuels quality creativity.

Summer staff

What I liked

My favorite part was working in Winona and seeing the city in the summer months. I enjoyed working with a smaller staff and for housing and res life. I really liked working with kids when they came in for camps that WSU hosted and helping them feel welcome and excited to be here. Overnights for camps were the best when I enjoyed various activities with our campers and staff.

What I wish was different

The hours were a little inconsistent weekly, but I enjoyed the variety of jobs we did.

Advice

Joining Summer Staff was a great opportunity to be in Winona over the summer and see what WSU/Winona has to offer in its sunny season as well as getting to see the behind the scenes of Housing and Res life.
