What I liked
It was a great opportunity to meet theatre artists of all different backgrounds and places in their careers! It was amazing to be in a place that was so focused on creating art and I was able to pursue all types of different disciplines that I wanted to deepen in my own practice. Of course, I also enjoyed being able to see the entire season while getting to know what went into it.
What I wish was different
There were occasionally some scheduling problems that were tough, but it makes sense for a place that produces 7 shows on two stages in 8 weeks. If there was slightly more care to avoid late night shifts combined with early mornings, it would've been a better experience.
Advice
You will be tired! It's a lot of work, and probably more manual labor than some actors would expect. However, if you're the type to push through, you'll meet inspiring people and learn so much about yourself -- it's an unforgettable experience in any right.

What I liked
I loved all of the hands on experience I received in many different departments within the theatre. I worked in Wig and Makeup Crew, Lighting design, Set design, as well as received acting classes and workshops. I even got to perform with well-known performing artists as well as up-and-coming artists in the Cabaret. The amount of human connections that was nurtured there was amazing. The amount of people in your corner doubles. Your network expands. The memories you create are everlasting. I would absolutely apply to return and work in a higher position.

Advice
The workload is heavy. They throw a lot of opportunities your way and you just have to say “yes” and absorb as much as you can. Sleep is valuable but hard to obtain. However it is worth it at the end of the day.

Videography Intern
June - August 2019 • Williamstown, MA
What I liked
I was uniquely fortunate to have worked with such capable, intelligent industry professionals that I now call friends. Meeting and working with celebrities was also a surreal experience.
What I wish was different
The only thing that would have made this internship better is if it were paid and the housing situation was better. Everything else about it was absolutely spectacular.
Advice
Take advantage of every opportunity but know your limits. An internship is likely to not be the time to be a recluse.

Advice
It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career so far. I was working with exceptionally talented, and hard-working professionals, and they all created a safe learning environment for all members of the company. A piece of advice I would offer to anyone applying for this position is to not forget to take care of yourself in the midst of the long hours, and demanding work.

What I liked
I loved the networking opportunities and how much I bonded and learned from the productions I worked on. I also loved how apprentices had the courage to produce our own work and showcase it at the festival!
What I wish was different
I don’t think the apprenticeship program is correctly marketed online.
Advice
Be prepared to work a lot and not act very much even though it is called an acting apprenticeship. The experience is different for every apprentice and it is centered upon how much you take advantage of the opportunities and how prepared you are.

What I liked
I learned much more than I could have imagined learning. The entire Williamstown Theatre family is very welcoming and inclusive. The whole festival becomes a part of your learning experience, even the departments that you are not a part of.
What I wish was different
Just the pay. Or a small stipend.
Advice
Make sure you are saving up before you go! It gets a little expensive if you are a student supporting yourself.
