Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Minnesota

Nurseries Assistant

April - October 2019 • Roseville, MN

What I liked

This internship provides animal husbandry knowledge, safe handling and medication practices, and experience managing the people, and physical spaces, and administrative tasks involved with wildlife care. Overall, this internship provides unparalleled wildlife experience!

What I wish was different

If I could change something about this internship, I would have had more formal training before officially starting, as all of the training was on-the-job, on-the-spot.

Advice

I would advise applicants to make sure that they are ready to do some really challenging work, both physically, and mentally, due to the emotional impact of caring for ill and injured wild patients.

Mammal Nursery Intern

June 2018 • Roseville, MN

What I liked

I really liked how hands on this internship was. It gave me a lot of responsibility and I was able to rise to the challenge and I feel that I grew from it and I have taken many valuable lessons away from it.

What I wish was different

I wish there had been more interns to give a bit more flexibility with the scheduling because it was very hard to ever get a shift covered if we needed it.

Advice

Go into this knowing that it will be a lot of hard work but that you will get out of it as much as you put into it.
