I loved the experience. I was put in a role where I was actually given responsibilities to carry out and to lead others in, and I received training that made me confident to do my job well. I enjoyed building meaningful relationships with the groups that came, while sharing my passion of the outdoors with them. I was invited into all aspects of the ministry at Wilderness Trek, not just the role as a summer guide. This provides me with a challenge and gives me room to grow.
What I wish was different
I wish I would have had more time between groups in the summer to get rest. If there were more summer guides it would have freed time for us to rest, but we were short a guide or two.
Advice
Don't be afraid to fail. It will restrain you from your own potential and limit your growth.
If you want to pursue outdoor ministry-this is a great place to feel it out and to grow as a person as well as in experience.
