My team, the education team, was such a supportive space. We talked a lot about the nature of art museums and the issues museums as institutions faced which was really cool.
What I wish was different
I wish it was a bit longer, I feel like by the time I adjusted to working 9-5, it was over.
Advice
Be flexible! being on the education team means both being on your feet and running admin tasks, while also working on a research project.

Gallery Assistant
February 2018 • New York City, NY
What I liked
I've been at the Whitney since 2015, first as a volunteer and now as a part-time worker and I always feel like it's a big family!
What I wish was different
Nothing major.
Advice
If you don't like the vibe of the company where you are working try to understand and pinpoint what it is exactly that makes your day go so slow. Eventually look for something else, there is no need to stick with something that makes us unhappy. On the other hand, if you enjoy the atmosphere of your job, don't let go of it and give it you 1000%!!
