Opportunities for leadership and personal connections.
What I wish was different
The camp schedule doesn't match up with Kalamazoo's schedule and so I had to miss the first two weeks.
Advice
Being a camp counselor can be challenging and nothing can prepare you for every experience you might have while watching ten six year olds in a creek. It is 100% worth it.

What I wish was different
I wish the summer never had to end so I could continue to wake up everyday for camp!

Camp Counselor
May - August 2018 • Nashville, TN
What I liked
I really enjoyed being able to work with the different campers that came through each week. As a student in New York City, it was also really nice to be able to spend so much time outdoors.
What I wish was different
Sometimes the other counselors could be clicky and only want to hang out with other specific counselors. Also, the pay was kinda small compared to how much work was being done.
Advice
If I could give one piece of advice about this job, it would be to not worry too much about how much of summer is left or how much as passed, but to enjoy each week and take time to get to know as many campers as you can.
