Weyerhaeuser

Forestry Technician Intern

June 2020 - March 2022 • Winnfield, LA

What I liked

I really enjoyed how open everyone was to helping me. I had no experience going into this internship and not one person ever hesitated to teach me how to do something or to explain things to me. I learned new things every day and still do today.

What I wish was different

I genuinely would not have changed anything from what I have experienced so far. All throughout my internship my manager checked in on me and asked me if I was having trouble with anything or if there was anything specific I'd like to see and that really helped me with getting everything that I wanted out of my time with them.

Advice

I would say to ask questions. Ask lots and lots of questions and don't be afraid to ask about things that interest you or things you don't know about.

What I wish was different

More diversity with jobs. There was a lot of repetition

If you want to work somewhere specific give them your resume and introduce yourself before the job posting comes out. And if you don’t get the job that year keep in contact with them so you heighten your chances the following year.

Accounting Intern

June - September 2018 • Seattle, WA

What I liked

I was assigned real work, and treated like an entry level accountant. This gave me a realistic impression of what it would really be like to work in industry accounting, and specifically at Weyerhaeuser.

What I wish was different

I actually really liked my experience, and don't wish anything was different.

Advice

Take advantage of being an intern!! Everyone expects you to ask questions, so don't hesitate to ask! Use the opportunity to learn as much as you can about the company, and about the tasks and projects you are assigned to work on.
