The Washington Wild Things were founded in December of 2001 when a group of local business men and women decided to purchase a team to play at what would be called Falconi Field being constructed just off I-70 in Washington County. The group began negotiations with the ownership of the Canton Crocodiles in the early fall of 2001 and the team relocated from Ohio to Western Pennsylvania. The front office began operation at a business store front at the Washington Crown Center while the ballpark was under construction.
