Construction Management Intern
May - August 2021 • Jacksonville, NC

The project I was assigned to, being that it was a maintenance hangar for the Navy. I also enjoyed the teamwork and knowledge I gained from other coworkers.
What I wish was different
I wish I would have gone out into the field more than I did.
Advice

Preconstruction Engineer Co-op
May - August 2020 • Washington, DC
What I liked
I loved just about everything. I loved the environment, my peers, my boss, the job, the work, how much they believed in me and had me in charge of things, etc. It was a great experience for my last co-op
What I wish was different
I wish this building, and everything and everyone in it, would be moved closer to home. It is a long drive to Cleveland but I loved everything about this experience so much, I am moving to DC anyways.
Advice
Don't be afraid to travel. I have had 3 previous co-ops, all somewhat local (longest was an hour commute), but I never really knew what was available to me until I took a leap of faith and took a co-op almost 7 hours away.

Project Intern
May 2020 • Santa Monica, CA
What I liked
I interned for the Water Division during the summer of 2020. I liked that my program allowed me to split my time between both the Santa Monica Water Treatment Plant & the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant. It offered me an experience to learn different aspects during the Pre-Construction process for both of these Progressive-Design-Build projects.
What I wish was different
I know Walsh is a proactive company in their community and among their employees. Unfortunately, COVID-19 limited a lot of social interactions.
Advice
Set learning goals for yourself. Journal or log the progress of your experience - they are a great reference in the future.
