What I liked

I loved the company culture. everyone is welcoming and willing to help in anyway that they can. I had the opportunity to pick my own projects and execute them. I loved that I was able to write the internal news letter for the organization and also have the opportunity to interact with the CEO

Be ready to try new things and keep an open mind. I was always nervous to try new things, but people are willing to help!

Energy & Sustainability Intern

What I liked

Everyone I met through this remote internship was amazing! It didn't matter that I was just an intern, the employees all treated me the same. The work was constant and rewarding!

What I wish was different

I wish the internship could have been in person, but given the pandemic, I am grateful it still happened anyway! The only thing that was tough about the internship was their work VPN. They used Citrix and it was very outdated and hard to navigate.

Advice

VOA seems like a great place to work full time. The people are great and they made an effort to educate on social justice movements. If you are looking for an internship that will lead to a job, unfortunately, they do not give return offers.
