What I liked

I loved gaining experience throughout this opportunity. It provided me great patient interaction and helped me strengthen skills, such as, bed side manner, communication and performing assessments.

What I wish was different

Scheduling seemed a little erratic to me. They were constantly reaching out wanting me to pick up more shifts, which is great, however, I always felt guilty every time I had to say no. It got a little repetitive.

Advice

If you're going into health care, this is a great opportunity to strengthen your experiences before starting nursing school, or even throughout. Although it is not a hospital job, there is still high importance in home care with the rising age population.

What I liked

The elderly people are typically nice in my experience and sometimes they may even feed you if they feel up to it.

What I wish was different

Had more time to work and that it had been closer. You have to go to the elderly person’s home.

Advice

Always have a smile on your face and be excited when an elderly person tells you a story. They love it when young people get excited about their past experiences.

What I liked

I really like interacting with my clients throughout the day and getting to personally know them! Also, the flexibility of hours while being a college student and athlete is really good.
