I really liked learning new things. My previous co-ops had been at a construction company so getting an experience in my field of study was important to me. I learned a lot of new software like AutoCAD, HydroCAD, and GIS. I gained a lot of knowledge in zoning allowance and changes for different counties.
I also really enjoyed the other employees. Every work environment is different and I felt like I fit in with their work culture.
What I wish was different
I wish I had had more full time experience. Due to the pandemic, I was not able to start until June and ended in August. Normally a summer co-op begins the first week of May. I still feel I have a lot to learn and am excited for my next co-op with Viox.
Advice
It is very important to communicate with your employers, especially in this new age of contactless employment. I continually updated my supervisors on my progress of projects and always asked for more work if I was caught up.
