I liked that I was going to be learning more about community corrections and all of what that entails. There were numerous things that I discovered about community corrections that I did not know about previously. I was really disappointed when I was told to leave the program due to how excited I was to be doing an internship there.
What I wish was different
I honestly believe that the Vigo County Community Corrections office was way to busy to be taking on interns. Most mornings I would show up and they would have nothing for me to do. I felt like I was a bother to them and there were times when they forgot I was even there. If they would have planned out activities and organized intern participation more, than I believe this could have been a better experience.
Advice
I would recommend Vigo County Community Corrections to not take on interns considering how busy they are. If they do take on interns, then they need to be more organized with how involved they have interns be. I would recommend students looking for an internship to not choose this place to do it if you actually want to learn things and not be ignored.

Juvenile Corrections Officer
January - May 2019 • Terre Haute, IN
What I liked
The employees were very helpful in explaining their job experiences and guided me in the right direction.
What I wish was different
I wish the state of Indiana was as giving to the juvenile centers as they are to the adult correctional facilities.
Advice
Just because they are children doesn't mean they can't be any easier to deal with than adults.
