Victaulic

Temporary Engineering Technician

May - September 2023 • Easton, PA

What I liked

For the purpose of being accurate, this was a temporary job that I got after graduating from Pitt. I have since accepted a full-time offer at Victaulic. I started at Victaulic not really knowing what Victaulic did. I had heard the name before and live close enough that I have seen billboards with "Apply Online Today". However, once I started to work here, it was clear to me that I would really enjoy my work. I was assigned to a project with a senior engineer and was working closely for most of most temporary contract. I was constantly learning and applying technical knowledge. I was never a big "hands-on" person before I started working on the R&D systems that I was assigned to. I learned how to use a lot of hand tools and spent a lot of my time independently setting up testing apparatus. Furthermore, I felt like even though I was new and inexperienced in the field, I could make suggestions or bring up technical concerns with those I worked with and be treated as an equal. If you like using tools or would like to learn, Victaulic gives you plenty of opportunity to do so as a Technician.

What I wish was different

Perfect experience. No changes necessary.

Advice

Take all of the opportunities you can to learn as this is interdisciplinary knowledge. I feel much more technically capable and confident after just a few months time. Additionally, if you work hard, it will be noticed and rewarded.

Fire Suppression Intern

May - July 2022 • Easton, PA

What I liked

I was given plenty of projects to make my mark on, projects that actually mattered and were very helpful to the fire suppression team. I was able to shadow most of the fire suppression engineers, who were very friendly and took every opportunity to teach me something new. Victaulic also held many valuable intern training sessions, tours, and a networking event which all introduced us to new concepts, experiences, and new connections.

Advice

Ask questions and soak up as much new information as you can, Victaulic really value the interns and try to teach them as much as possible

Engineering Intern

May - August 2021 • Easton, PA

What I liked

I liked that I was given intensive projects to work on that I could really make my own, and that the people that I worked with were both friendly and very knowledgeable. I also got to learn a lot of 'background info' about the company that was always interesting and gave a lot of context to what I was working on in my particular position - manufacturing facilities and methods, products and markets outside of what I was dealing with, sales, hands on experience with product installation as the customers would, etc.

What I wish was different

Nothing immediately comes to mind.

Advice

Make the most of it! You really get out what you put in, and this is a company that is certainly deserving of your efforts - they are very appreciative of their interns. Victaulic headquarters is in a beautiful area and they offer housing for their interns. They re-invest a relatively large amount of money into R&D and it seems they have been spreading out into more disciplines recently.

Information Technology: End User Computing

May - August 2019 • Easton, PA

What I liked

Victaulic was a fantastic company to work for over the summer. I had a very friendly group of co-workers that I had the joy of knowing and work with. The work I did was enjoyable.

What I wish was different

I wish there was a better program that got the interns to know each other. I didn't get the chance to know anyone outside of my coworkers.

Advice

The work you will do does get repetitive, but if you enjoy what you, this shouldn't bother you.
