Venice Arts

Photography and Film Education Intern

June - August 2018 • Venice, CA

What I liked

It was an intimate community where growing in the position was challenging yet rewarding. I learned a lot about administration, non-profit organization, and photography and film techniques to teach kids. The people there are supportive, and the kids who attend the workshops and camps are very talented and fun to work with.

What I wish was different

I wish that there was more organization in terms of explaining what to do each day, as daily tasks were usually given on the spot. It felt difficult at times to find things to do when camp was not in session.

Be open minded and stay positive in the workspace, even if it feels like busy work. The organization has a high mission that is really awesome, and the people there are very passionate about what they do.
