VAVi Sport & Social Club

Marketing Intern

September 2019 • San Diego, CA

What I liked

Very flexible with my schedule; tight knit group of interns that are always there to help you out! Your assigned a mentor, who work with you on personal projects. They also help you connect with people who have careers in industries you're interested in.

What I wish was different

Some busy work, if you're not in the office you're out doing "league openings", which can last about 4 hours. So sometimes, the work is just tedious and time-consuming.

Advice

I would say network with the people in the officer, especially your mentor and the owner, Felix. They have a LOT of connections, so if you need a job/intern, speak up!

Sports and Management Marketing Intern

May - August 2019 • San Diego, CA

What I liked

I liked working with fellow interns in order to revamp the social media sites such as Twitter and Snapchat. This allowed for more player interactions, and allowed us to use our customer service skills. I also liked owning my own sports leagues and always took on the challenge of selling out my own leagues.

What I wish was different

I wish that the internship was structured. Sometimes we didn't have anything to do, so I'd ask a manager and they would say they would get back to me soon with something. So, a lot of the time I was finding small tasks to keep myself busy. Additionally, we didn't get our projects until middle of July, so it seemed like the internship was just not planned well.

Advice

Be proactive. None of the employees seem to be on top of the internship at VAVi Sport and Social Club, so you have to find ways on your own to make the most out of it.
