What I liked

I had an incredible internship experience at Varonis. From day one, I was treated just like a full-time Sales Development Representative (SDR), which made me feel valued and integral to the team. The hands-on approach allowed me to dive deep into the world of cybersecurity and data, gaining practical knowledge and skills that are crucial in today’s tech-driven landscape. The mentorship and support from my colleagues were outstanding. They were always available to answer questions, provide guidance, and share their expertise. This collaborative environment not only enhanced my learning but also helped me build strong professional relationships. One of the highlights was the opportunity to work on real projects that had a tangible impact on the company. This experience gave me a sense of accomplishment and a better understanding of how my contributions fit into the bigger picture. Additionally, the regular feedback sessions were incredibly beneficial, helping me to continuously improve and grow. Overall, this internship was a game-changer for me. It provided a solid foundation in cybersecurity and data, and the experience of being treated as a full-time SDR was invaluable. I highly recommend this internship to anyone looking to gain substantial knowledge and experience in the field.

What I wish was different

While my internship at Varonis was overall a positive experience, I do wish there had been more opportunities specifically tailored for interns. It would have been beneficial to have career path workshops and structured developmental processes to help us better understand our future career options and growth within the company. Having these resources would have provided clearer guidance on how to navigate our professional journeys and develop the necessary skills to advance. It would have also been great to have more dedicated sessions focused on personal and professional development, which could have enhanced our learning experience even further. Despite this, the hands-on experience and the chance to work on real projects were invaluable. However, incorporating more intern-specific programs would have made the experience even more enriching and supportive.

Advice

Make the most of every moment during your internship and approach it with determination and resilience. This is an opportunity where you need to be eager and proactive, ready to seize every chance to learn and grow. Embrace the challenges and be prepared to tackle them head-on. I gained interpersonal skills, practical work experience and learned about cyber security and how relevant data protection is.

What I wish was different

I wish I got to do it in person, but it wasn't offered. That would have been nice to have face to face interactions with others.

Advice

Ask for help. I struggled with the internship in the beginning. However, once I took ownership and stay online studying late nights I saw results in my work not only for my personal benefit, but for the company.
