Varian

Electricacal Engineering Project Support inten

May 2019 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

Project base internship with a lot of flexibility. Also given tasks outside of project, so everyday could be something new. Amazing management - clear goals were assigned and always available to guide. Varian is a global company, so it was necessary to communicate and learn from colleagues around the world, and across many different teams/departments. Given the opportunity to travel and visit sites across the east coast.

What I wish was different

Be confident when entering a new position to make proper decisions. Firmly explain why that was the best decision at the time. Understand that your time is valuable too, so don't be afraid to ask colleagues for help or information - everyone is more than happy to help you learn.

Advice

Set yourself up for success, so that when the right opportunity is presented, you are already prepared to grab it.

Marketing Intern

May - August 2017 • Palo Alto, CA

What I liked

I got to learn a lot about the company, the medical devices industry, and marketing.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been given a more diverse set of roles and projects to complete, instead of one project.

Advice

You get out of it what you put into it. Ask for what you want to learn and for areas you can help your team/manager.

It intern

June - August 2018 • Palo Alto, CA

What I liked

The work culture and independent critical projects assigned to us.

What I wish was different

It was a critical summer for the company so it was very hectic and less time with my managers.

Advice

Be ready to explore and learn by yourself. It will be useful for two things, first to make a good impression on your managers. Second, it is a good practice to have an independent mindset instead of being co-dependent.
