I liked that I was truly able to understand how my work fit in with the larger research project being conducted by my team. I also enjoyed that our internship provided career development sessions, in which we got to learn about other employees' experiences and the journey they went through to get to where they are now. I enjoyed that all interns in our cohort worked on different projects, so it was always fun to check-in with one another and learn about each other's work.
What I wish was different
I wish that the pay was slightly higher and that the internship provided us with housing.
Advice
Don't be afraid to ask questions or send a random email to someone you would like to meet with. Everyone at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation is very approachable and open to helping others.
