SEED Intern
May - August 2019 • Logan, UT
What I liked
I loved getting to work with different types of clients in Trujillo, Peru. I loved getting to help them grow their businesses by teaching them marketing, business, and finance skills. I also loved getting to know each of them personally and their families.
What I wish was different
I wish the organization USU worked with was more organized in the city where we were at so we could do more good instead of having to solve so many problems first.
Advice
I would say to prepare a lot before going down to Peru, especially teaching business lessons in Spanish. I would also say that learning how to teach finance skills and knowing how to work Excel is very crucial to being successful as an intern.

SEED Business Intern
January - May 2018 • Trujillo, La Libertad Region
What I liked
I loved that I had a chance to live abroad and really apply my skills. Learning in the classroom and then applying what you have learned is a really beneficial experience.
What I wish was different
I wish I could have known sooner in my education about this opportunity so I could share with others and help them find an incredible experience with SEED
Advice
I would recommend taking the semester off to truly immerse yourself in the culture and the experience. Some of my fellow interns took classes and had to spend precious time making sure they were fulfilling their academic responsibilities along with the responsibilities that we had as interns.
