Summer Housing Custodial

May - August 2019 • Logan, UT

What I liked

It was a very flexible job for summer plans as well as it was easy to pick up quickly how to perform the duties required of the job. You also get to listen to whatever you want as you work.

What I wish was different

Advice

I would recommend it to people that are willing to be very active in their job. It requires a lot of work on the knees especially bending down in hard to reach places. If you enjoy cleaning, this is the job for you.

What I liked

I loved providing customer service to the youth groups that stayed on campus, and I loved checking in EFY.

What I wish was different

I wish that my employer had given the full work schedule earlier so that I could make arrangements at my other job.

Teenagers and kids are people too; they deserve to be spoken to like equals and to be taken seriously.

Summer Assistant

May - August 2019 • Logan, UT

What I liked

The staff, team leads, and supervisors were all such a wonderful group to work with. In stressful situations, the staff always knew that we could rely on the team to support us. The month of May was dedicated to training, and that time really prepares you for the rest of summer when groups are on campus. Working with groups and providing them a positive experience at USU is such a rewarding and fulfilling opportunity.

What I wish was different

Advice

Make sure to be willing to serve the people you are working with! Having customer service experience is helpful as well as a positive attitude!

Summer Assistant

May - August 2018 • Logan, UT

What I liked

The job includes on campus housing accommodations. Also, as a part time job, you can do other things like work a second job, or plan a summer project.

What I wish was different

Hours can be variable from week to week and hard to plan around. Some people with second jobs might work more or less hours. Hourly pay would help regulate this issue.

Advice

You need patience and customer service background (or mindset) to thrive in this job.
