The one piece of advice I would share about my experience, is to never give up and always continue to stand strong for what you believe in. It is hard getting internships and especially government internships, but just continue to apply because there is always opportunities at there for you.

Great hands-on experience, plenty of exposure to different areas of lab work, sciences, and events within the government.
What I wish was different
Location was not the greatest in terms of things to do, but the job itself was great.

Student Trainee Biological Sciences
March 2016 - August 2017 • Tucson, AZ
What I liked
I liked being able to directly work with a graduate student on her project. I got to see how experiments progressed from start to finish, and taking a part in all of it made me feel like we were truly doing important work.
What I wish was different
I wish I had a little more autonomy; the times that I did, I certainly enjoyed it a lot, though it could be kind of stressful planning the timeline of the experiments in those cases
Advice
Ask questions, learn the processes: what you're doing, why, what it accomplishes, etc.
