I was able to create the primary designs for a couple of small projects, and the office was a small commute from my hometown. It was awesome to use my classroom learning for a real application. One of the things I like about studying engineering is there is very little extraneous information that is not directly applicable to the career field.
What I wish was different
It would have been nice to have a peer to work with, but it is probably not likely in the coming year since the office is rather remote relative to the local universities.
Advice
Employees of the federal government have a lot of rules and regulations to follow that sometimes private companies don't, so anyone considering a position like this should keep that in mind.
